Preparing The Paperwork

Once you have selected your lot and house style, the next step is to prepare the paperwork. This is accomplished by completing an Agreement of Sale. The type of Agreement you complete will depend upon whether you need to sell your current house first. The Agreement will include any options you want to include, however you have the opportunity to select more options and extras during the color selection.

If you do not need to sell a home prior to building your new home, you can establish your completion and settlement date at the time of preparing the Agreement of Sale. Typically, construction can take anywhere from 120 to as much as 180 days. For quality control, quality builders will limit the number of new homes started each month. This assures a quality home but could create a completion date in excess of 120 days. The completed Agreement of Sale and as little as a $2,000 deposit are all that is needed to start the process.

If your current house needs to be sold before you can buy your new home, you are still able to start the process and guarantee your choice of lot while your current home is on the market. The best part is that your price is also fixed. If a price increase occurs, you keep the original price. Contact Steve  for more information on timing the sale of your current house with the construction of your new home.
