Settlement

You did it! Now is the time of final settlement. Your Realtor will call you to schedule the date and time of settlement once all contingencies of the contract have been met. Settlement may take place at a Title or Abstract company or an Attorney's office depending on common practices of your area. As the date approaches you will need to notify utilities, the post office and other parties of your new address. Print the following checklist as a guide. If you will be purchasing a new property, closings will probably be scheduled consecutively.
